On Saturday, August 24, Hannan Center’s wonderful Emerge! Art Festival celebration many local artists. Emerge! is an art festival presented by Hannan, open to emerging artists aged 55 and up. New for 2024, the festival also introduced the Next Generation Awards, celebrating artists aged 54 and younger as well. Artists were invited to submit up to two pieces of work that align with the competition’s theme, and were judged by a panel of esteemed art professionals and voted on by the arts community. On August 20, the annual Strides for Seniors was launched at St. Pat Senior Center - featuring a yard sale, DJ Tim and dancing, and a lunch of Detroit favorites like Coney Dogs, Boston Coolers and Better Made Chips. The September long campaign promotes our neighborhood senior centers, powered by Detroit Area Agency on Aging, Detroit Parks & Rec and St. Pat. Here's a 60 second video of the excitement.
