Aging Matters Expo is Back!

The annual Aging Matters Expo – “Conversations for Caregivers” – returned on August 11, moving to the Northwest campus of Wayne County Community College.

In addition to the vendors and health care professionals on hand, the event included caregiver and self-care workshops, a Town Hall with the New York/Michigan Solutions Journalism Collaborative, and a keynote address by BernNadette Stanis – “Thelma from the TV show, “Good Times.” She is also the author of “The Last Night: A Caregiver’s Journey through Transition and Beyond the Last Night” – about her experience ushering her mother through the disheartening maze of Alzheimer’s disease.

The event was hosted by the Detroit Caregivers Support Collaborative: Neighborhood Legal Services – Elder Law & Advocacy Center, Southeast Michigan Senior Regional Collaborative, Urban Aging News, and Bridging Communities, Inc.
